The Impeccable ImageBy Ferial Youakim AICI, Beauty Solutions
There is really no substitute for the way you feel and perform when you really look good. Many studies have proven that the best dressed applicant, with the highest self-confidence will get the job first. So how can you have an impeccable image?Once you've decided on a style and color that you like, the next step is to see how it looks on your body. Try it on. It is vital to have the style fitted into your figure, to give you that desired tailored look. Choose a size that fits most of your body, but may need a nip and tuck somewhere. Never buy an outfit just because of the small size. Remember, one company's 10 is another's 12. You are always better off getting the larger size and taking it in rather than letting it out. Looking at it from another perspective; an inexpensive garment, if fitted by a professional tailor, can give the wearer a more expensive look than an ill fitted designer label. Points to consider for a perfect fit:Foundations: During your alteration you must be wearing the proper foundation. Yes, that is the core for a good look. The underwear should fit smoothly over the rear end and have enough room for the legs. If the elastic is digging into the skin or if the skin is coming over the top, it's time for a larger size. Skirts: Give yourself some ease at the waist, hips and thighs. If you have large hips (as most women do) or thighs, take the waist in. When your skirt starts to crawl up, it's an indication that you need more room in the hips. Also, when the skirt starts to curve in at the hip or buttocks and shows the thighs you need to consider a larger size. Tops and Blouses: Buttons should not be pulling and tops should never be clinging to your body. When wearing tops or blouses with a set in sleeve, the sleeve should end at your shoulders, with enough room in the armhole and back to move comfortably. The sleeve should finish around the wrist bone or half an inch (1.2cm) below, allow some room for one finger to go in the sleeve cuff, and two fingers in the collar. Jackets and Blazers: A classic jacket should finish at the hip area; the sleeve length is about half to an inch (1-2.5cm) below the wrist bone, if longer than that ask to have them altered. The jacket should cover the rear end and should be able to close without pulling open in the back. Jackets, in any shape or style, need to button comfortably allowing enough ease in the back to move.
Belts: If the belt does not buckle on the third hole you should consider a bigger size. These are just some of the tips for the right fit. Appreciate who you are and flatter your body by having your wardrobe altered to fit your figure. Tailoring to fit who you are, is the best way to accentuate your assets and minimize your imperfections; thus, achieving The Impeccable Image.
